4 hot chocolate recipes to manage menopausal weight gain

Hot chocolate has a bad reputation for being high in calories.

But just by finding an alternative for the obscene amount of sugar, and adding in a few healthful ingredients , it can be turned into a delightful drink that can help women manage their weight.

Firstly, let’s take a look at the main ingredient, cocoa powder. Cocoa powder is chock full of nutritional benefits, and can even help with trimming weight.

Here are the health benefits of cocoa powder:

  • Aids Weight Management: Cocoa has been known to boost metabolism and help the body metabolise fat better.
  • Fights Inflammation: Cocoa powder may improve digestion, due to its anti-inflammatory action on the gut. A healthy gut is important for women looking to manage their weight.
  • Helps in Detoxification: Due to the presence of antioxidants like flavonoids, cocoa powder is great for detoxification of the body. Cocoa powder is also rich in fibre, which is good for regulating blood sugar and removing waste content from the body.
  • Fights Stress: Cocoa has been known to fight stress and improve mood. When you're stressed, you don't have the energy to work out in a proper manner, which may also hamper weight management.

AND those are just the benefits of cocoa alone! The recipes we have today have additional ingredients that will help women keep hot flashes at bay.

Ingredients like:

Ginger - the anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties it has can help provide relief from hot flashes.
