5 Beauty Tips To Keep Skin Hydrated This Summer

Ah summer, the season of spontaneous adventures, BBQ evenings and getting tan lines on the beach.

The season of fun!

But there’s one thing that's the opposite of FUN during summer…

Dehydrated Skin

Dehydrated skin happens when our skin loses water content and moisture levels, making it look dull and lacklustre.

Especially during the summer.

But you know we’ve got your backs!

Here are 5 simple beauty tips you can include in your beauty routine to keep your skin healthy and glowing this summer:

1)  Moisturize

Your body loses a lot of moisture during summer.

So, it is essential to hydrate your body throughout the day.

Beauty experts recommend drinking 10-12 glasses of water and increasing fruit intake to keep yourself hydrated all day long.

Doing so will increase both skin elasticity and brighten skin complexion.

2) Don't forget the sunscreen

Use sunscreen whenever you step out of the house.

Sunscreen helps in shielding your skin from harmful UV radiations that bring about the early onset of skin ageing.

Apply sunscreen about 15 – 20 minutes before heading out to allow the active ingredients in the sunscreen to be fully absorbed into your skin.

Squeeze a quarter size amount and apply it evenly on the:

  • Face
  • Neck
  • Ears
  • Back of the hands
  • Top of the feet

3) Use soothing ingredients like tomato

A good way to keep your face fresh and cool during summers is to use tomatoes, which are a great source of antioxidants.

Mix a cup of tomato and lemon juice and apply it all over your face (you could also make ice cubes of it).

Leave it on for 10 minutes and then wash with cold water.

This will cool your skin, tighten the pores and keep it hydrated too.

4)Cleanse and exfoliate

Cleanse your face twice a day and scrub your skin two to three times a week to get rid of dirt and grime from deep within the pores.

Allowing your pores to breathe freely without any obstruction (the root cause of acne.)

Also it allows your skin to benefit from the moisturising lotions and face masks.

5) “Eat the solution”

This calls for an “inside job”.

Consume foods that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids (proven to be beneficial to the skin).

Our skin contains fat to create a strong barrier on our skin against all the junk that’s trying to get into it.

If this barrier is weak, not only does the dirt and grime get into our skin, water from our body escapes by seeping through it, leaving ladies with dehydrated, itchy and even flaky skin.

Some foods that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids includes:

  • Walnuts
  • Flaxseeds
  • Soyabean
  • Fish and seafood
